The Sterkh Foundation announced the “Sterkh – the bird of hope” competition of children's artwork to drive environmental protection activities and propagate information on cranes and their habitat among population of the Yamal region. The competition is devoted to the Yamal “Crane Day” festival. The competition is organized by ITERA Oil and Gas Company and Sterkh Foundation.The central themes of the competition are sterkh (the Siberian white crane), and nature sceneries with cranes. Various kinds of artwork are accepted for participation: drawings, handcrafted articles made of any material, and literary works.
The artwork by children of three age groups, 7-10, 11-14 and 15-18 years is accepted in the period of September 1 through to October 20, 2005 in Salekhard (Yamal region).
According to Mr. Alexander Ermakov, the Sterkh Foundation Manager, the best 20 works will be selected by a special jury (including Mr. A.Ermakov, Mr. George Archibald, President of the International Crane Foundation, Mr. Alexey Arteev, YANAO Governor Representative in the State Duma, and others) for exposition in the Regional Museum-and-Expo Center named after Mr.Schemanovsky. The authors these works will be awarded special prizes, and their works will be used by the Sterkh Foundation for educational and promotional purposes.
Besides, the Sterkh Foundation will send the best seven authors of the senior age group to the exhibition at the Keoladeo National park (India).
