On April 3, Petr Latyshev, the President’s Plenipotentiary Representative in the Urals Federal District, chaired a Council meeting. The agenda included regional electric power development till 2010, regional gasification projects till 2008 and other national projects in the region. Valery Otchertsov, Chairman of the Management Board of ITERA Oil and Gas Company, took part in the Urals Federal District Plenipotentiary Representative Council.
Eduard Rossel, Sverdlovsk Region Governor, said in his speech at the meeting: “Since 1999 the region has no gas supply problems after making an agreement with ITERA Oil and Gas Company who fully provides the required amounts of gas”. He underlined that gas consumption increased from 15 to over 18 BCM and is expected to achieve 25 BCM by 2015.
Eduard Rossel said that Sverdlovsk Region is among the most successful areas in terms of gasification. All of the cities and towns have natural gas supply. Over 3,500 kilometers of gas pipelines have been constructed over the last 5 years. According to the Governor, gasification program is being implemented at the expense of local budget and ITERA. The oil and gas company has allocated more than RUR 400 million to construct gas pipelines and heating facilities in towns.
The Governor said: “ITERA contributes to equipping industrial enterprises with combined cycle power generation facilities to produce own heat and electric power”. It was emphasized that “one kilowatt-hour (Kwh) generated by such facilities costs RUR 0.46, which is 3-4 times cheaper than the electric power produced by RAO “UES of Russia”.
