A warm greeting with flowers was extended to Russian Ashihara-karate national team by sport fans in Moscow airport “Sheremetyevo-2”, on April 17. Grand karate masters reaped the richest harvest of medals at the world championship in Viborg, ancient capital of Denmark, thus allowing the team to secure the first place.
In their respective weight categories Andrey Levandin (Mineralnye Vody), Alexey Sinev (Samara), Alim Tkhagalegov, and Zouber Ourusov (Naltchik) were awarded gold medals; while Alexander Lavroushin (Moscow), Alexey Kotoukov (Voronezh Region), Vitaly Nekrasov (Moscow Region) were awarded silver. As far as veterans’ category is concerned, the second place was awarded to Andrey Vely (Moscow), while bronze medal was granted to Khaid Mantaev (Vedeno, Chechen Republic).
The great success of the Russian karate was deservedly shared with the team’s coach Valery Ryzhkov and with the coach staff – Vitaly Astanin, Nikolay Koulakov, Mourad Sabanchiev, and Veniamin Chiakadze.
According to Valery Ryzhkov, CEO of Russian Ashihara-karate Federation and President of Moscow Ashihara-karate Federation, who was interviewed by our reporter, it was ITERA that contributed to the popularization of this young sport in Russia and to the multiple victories of our national team at the most prestigious competitions.
For many years ITERA Oil and Gas Company has been providing access to its modern sport facilities and financial support both to renowned masters and to karate beginners.
