According to the ITAR-TASS Press Secretary of Uralsevergas, Oleg Vlasov the consumption of natural gas in Sverdlovsk region in 2007 will increase by half a billion cubic meters. The total consumption the next year is reported to be at least 19.5 BBCM. "The regional gas demand grows year after year, - says О.Vlasov, - Thus, the annual supply of natural gas grew from 15.3 BBCM in 1999 to 18.1 BBCM in 2005. The outgoing year's volume was almost 19 BBCM".
The press-secretary stated that according to the agreement between the Government of Sverdlovsk region and ITERA, the regional main supplier the original amount to be provided to consumers in 2005 -2008 was 71 BBCM. However in the last seven years, O.Vlasov says, the region had 265 new consumers receiving over a billion cubic meters of gas. In the next two years there going to be another 120-150 consumers whose annual consumption will be 600-800 MMCM". This year's gas supply amounted to 19 BBCM which is 1.4 BBCM more than envisaged in the agreement.
Altogether, during the whole period of Uralsevergas operation in Sverdlovsk region the planned and pre-agreed extra demand of all types of consumers was fully satisfied. This year the region will "overstep" the annual volumes of gas provisioned in the governmental agreement not only for 2006 but for the following two years. As the agreement stipulates, the peak consumption from 2004 to 2008 was scheduled for 2008 and amounted to 18.2 BBCM. The actual consumption of this year according to the preliminary assessments will achieve 18.9 to 19.1 BBCM.
Gasification rates in Sverdlovsk region are three times as high as the average value in entire Russia. "Meanwhile, the issue of over-consumption and irrational use of gas remains relevant, - О.Vlasov stated. – The excessive consumption of 'blue fuel' in the region is 4-4.5 BBCM per year. In the conditions of global energy deficit the reasonable saving becomes more and more appropriate".
